Position Summary
The Food Safety Specialist supports consulting projects involving food
safety, regulatory compliance, Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS), and
quality systems for domestic and international food-manufacturing clients.
The role focuses on FSMS documentation review, food safety assessments,
gap assessments, regulatory research covering the USA, Canada, India,
European Union, and Middle East, technical report writing, client support,
training, and assisting senior consultants with project execution.
The successful candidate should possess a strong technical foundation,
excellent report-writing skills, and the ability to work independently
while receiving guidance on complex regulatory matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Support food safety and regulatory consulting projects for domestic and
international clients across sectors including seafood, spices, fresh
produce, dairy, meat, bakery, ingredients, and processed foods. - Conduct technical and regulatory research related to FDA, FSMA, CFIA,
Codex Alimentarius, European Union requirements, FSSAI, Middle East
regulations, GFSI schemes such as BRCGS and FSSC 22000, and other
applicable international food safety requirements. - Perform food safety gap assessments, GAP assessments, FSV assessments,
GMP inspections, Environmental Monitoring Program assessments, and
supplier evaluations. - Travel to client sites to inspect manufacturing facilities, assess
agricultural and aquaculture farms, conduct audits, and deliver training
as required. - Draft, review, and update food safety documentation, including SOPs,
SSOPs, GMP programs, HACCP plans, Food Safety Plans, Environmental
Monitoring Programs, Traceability Programs, Recall Plans, and Supplier
Approval Programs. - Prepare high-quality technical documentation, including gap assessment
reports, audit reports, facility assessment reports, root-cause analysis
reports, corrective-action reports, meeting minutes, and technical
summaries. - Review laboratory testing reports, identify deviations, summarize
findings, and assist with recommending appropriate corrective actions. - Support root-cause investigations and assist in developing corrective
and preventive action (CAPA) plans for client projects. - Compile technical evidence, supporting documentation, and background
information for regulatory submissions and client deliverables. - Assist senior consultants with presentations, technical guidance
documents, client reports, and training materials. - Attend client meetings, prepare meeting summaries, track action items,
and support the timely completion of project deliverables. - Coordinate with internal subject-matter experts and cross-functional
teams to support consulting assignments and project execution. - Maintain accurate project documentation, records, client files, and
technical databases. - Stay current with emerging food safety regulations, regulatory guidance,
scientific developments, and industry best practices. - Support client training sessions, workshops, webinars, and internal
knowledge-sharing initiatives. - Communicate professionally with clients, laboratories, regulatory
bodies, industry associations, and other stakeholders. - Travel within India and internationally, as required, to support audits,
assessments, investigations, and training activities. - Work collaboratively within a global consulting environment while
managing multiple projects and meeting established deadlines.
Other Requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English,
particularly technical writing. - Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving ability while working under
minimal supervision. - Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all
levels of management. - Ability to commute to different facilities frequently.
- Ability to work with the TAG office team during the early hours of
Eastern Time. - Ability to collect, maintain, evaluate, and summarize data and prepare
reports. - Team-oriented attitude with strong values, integrity, and a positive
outlook. - Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to use Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and other modern communication
tools.
QualificationDegree in food science, microbiology, or a closely related field.
ExperienceTwo to three years of experience in a food-manufacturing environment,
with hands-on experience in food quality and regulatory affairs.
