India exporters must follow stringent regulations and customer requirements of the countries to which they export food products, spices and ingredients. These countries often revise or modernize regulatory laws in light of new findings, foodborne illness, or emerging pathogenic organisms. For example, in the U.S., the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) inspects imported foods at the border or port of entry, and the FDA will refuse imports with pathogenic contamination or other issues. In Canada, imports are regulated by Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) which requires that food and ingredient importers be licensed.
