SUMMARY:Social Media in Food Safety - Friend or Foe?
DESCRIPTION:Social media and the food safety world go together like peanut butter and jelly. Why? Because social media is an excellent place to communicate with constituents\, launch campaigns\, build awareness around initiatives\, and is an essential tool in crisis communications. When billions of people are using the social media platforms daily\, why not use it to your advantage and share information with them? Social media can be your friend or enemy. Choose wisely!

SUMMARY:Hygienic By Design: Reducing Risk in Your Facility
DESCRIPTION:TAG’s Executive Vice President of Food Safety & Public Health\, Dr. Rolando Gonzalez\, will be presenting at the 2023 3-A SSI Education Event on May 10\, 2023. Dr. Gonzalez will be presenting Hygienic by Design: Reducing Risk in Your Facility. Hygienic by design means designing or modifying facilities\, equipment\, and systems to minimize the risk of contamination in all phases of food production. It involves considering hygiene and sanitation at every stage of facility design\, construction\, and operation. This includes selecting materials\, equipment\, and surfaces that are easy to clean and maintain\, creating layouts that minimize cross-contamination\, and implementing effective cleaning and disinfection procedures. The goal is to create a hygienic environment that supports food safety and reduces the risk of foodborne illness. \nLearn more here

SUMMARY:Webinar: The Use of Artificial Intelligence in Food Safety and What's Next
DESCRIPTION:As media channels talk about how Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools\, like OpenAI’s ChatGPT\, are making work easier for some\, while possibly putting other jobs at risk – the use of artificial intelligence in the food industry has been gaining momentum over the last 5 years. \nBut when it comes to food safety\, how is AI being used today by food producers – as well as the FDA – and where is this rapidly evolving technology going? \nIn this webinar\, TAG’s Vice President of Public Health & Regulatory Affairs\, Dr. Ben Miller\, discusses current cases for using AI to monitor and detect food safety issues (such as the detection of contaminants) along with its potential to predict common and rare food safety events. Dr. Miller will also outline current challenges and potential limitations of AI in the food industry and how to think about appropriate uses of currently available and future AI tools. \nRegister here

SUMMARY:Webinar: Shoring Up Your Prevention Actions to Avoid FDA Form 483
DESCRIPTION:Typically spurred on by customer complaints\, the FDA have been increasing their investigations\, resulting in far more Form 483’s being issued for corrective action violations. An inability to respond to this form with a written corrective action plan that is expeditiously implemented can result in product recall or facility shutdown. \nWhether you’re a larger enterprise or smaller manufacturing business\, your preventative action plan can break down for several reasons. In this webinar\, TAG’s Director of Food Safety\, Lacey Keesee\, will describe what manufacturers can do to avoid FDA investigations resulting in a Form 483\, and overcome common challenges such as a lack of resources to conduct a thorough RCA\, or ensuring proper documentation practices are in place. \nProcess manufacturers need a practical approach that not only protects their business but drives continuous improvement. In this webinar you will lean: \n\nWhat the FDA expects for root cause analysis\nWhat good root cause analysis looks like and tools to support your production\nHow to implement a proper CAPA plan following analysis\n\nRegister here

SUMMARY:Webinar: FDA Expectations: How to Become “Recall Ready”
DESCRIPTION:The FDA recently gave food manufacturers new detailed guidance on how to proactively prepare for a recall\, and even when to voluntarily perform a recall. \nThough most food companies have recall plans in place\, the plans often sit on a shelf and don’t receive much attention until a company finds itself in a stressful situation. Join TAG’s Director of Food Safety\, Mary Hoffman\, and SafetyChain for FSMA Friday as they break down the expectations outlined in FDA’s “Recall Ready” guidance\, what challenges are often encountered when executing a product recall\, and what industry best practices are for preparing to successfully navigate a product recall. \nIt’s not a matter of “if” a recall will happen\, but “when”. \nRegister here

SUMMARY:FSVP QI Training: Don’t Get 483’d by Your FSVP
DESCRIPTION:Under the Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) rule of FSMA\, a qualified individual (QI) must develop and maintain a FSVP as well as perform certain risk-based activities to verify that a food to be imported to the U.S. was produced in a manner that meets U.S. food safety standards. This TAG delivered course will provide participants with the education and training needed to become a QI and develop and implement an FSVP to keep you safe from 483s. \nTo assist in your FSVP development\, TAG is offering a virtual FSVP QI training on August 15 – 16 delivered by Director of Food Safety\, Christopher Snabes. TAG training follows the standardized curriculum developed by the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA) and recognized by the FDA. Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion upon successful completion of the training. \n*$750 per person plus training materials and shipping fees. \nRegister here.

SUMMARY:Webinar: Confusing Validation with Verification in FSMA: The Risks and Best Practices
DESCRIPTION:While managing systems designed to mitigate risk and follow food safety regulations\, there often is a lot of confusion around what needs to be validated versus verified. Though many food manufacturers use these terms interchangeably\, not adhering to each definition accurately could put food safety in jeopardy. \nTAG’s Director of Food Safety\, Ranjeet Klair\, will give real-world examples of how this confusion had cost companies lost productivity and revenue due to non-compliance\, and will provide clear definitions for validation and verification within the FSMA framework\, with steps to take for each process. \nRegister today

SUMMARY:Virtual IA Vulnerability Assessment Training
DESCRIPTION:To fulfill the requirements of FSMA’s Intentional Adulteration (IA) Rule\, food facilities must develop and maintain a written Food Defense Plan (FDP). This FDP must be written by a Food Defense Qualified Individual (FDQI). Included in the requirements for the written FDP is a vulnerability assessment (VA) for each facility. \nTo assist FDQIs in the development of the written FDP\, TAG is offering a virtual IA VA training from July 26-27\, 2022. TAG’s training\, delivered by Director of Food Safety\, Christopher Snabes\, and Executive Vice President of Food Safety and Public Health\, Dr. Rolando Gonzalez\, follows the standardized curriculum developed by the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA) and recognized by the FDA. Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion for the “FSPCA Intentional Adulteration Vulnerability Assessments\,” using the Three Fundamental Elements approach\, upon successful completion of the training. \nRequired pre-requisite training: KAT and Mitigation Training courses are required to be taken prior to this training. This training will be offered the day before the course begins on July 25. \n*$595 per person plus training materials and shipping fees. An additional $50 per person for the pre-requisite training. \nRegister here.
