SUMMARY:Webinar: Navigating the Perfect Storm of Supplier Constraints
DESCRIPTION:The food supply chain has been stretched to a breaking point since the start of COVID-19. Compounding supplier challenges have put a strain on meeting production goals\, and in some cases\, have jeopardized safety and quality specifications. \nSuppliers are faced with issues such as logistics backlogs\, natural disasters that impact food safety standards and availability of ingredients\, a reduction in skilled labor\, and global economic shifts – all of which can have a negative impact on your food production quality and schedule. \nJoin TAG’s Executive Senior Director of Food Safety and Supply Chain Risk Management\, Dr. Liliana Casal-Wardle\, as she explains how to establish an emergency sourcing plan with strong food safety controls in place that can be rapidly enacted as needed. You’ll learn what trends to look for to identify supplier risk\, key steps to building an effective emergency sourcing plan\, and real examples of how an emergency sourcing plan can provide the tools to meet food safety compliance\, and consumer expectations. \nRegister here

SUMMARY:Webinar: FDA Expectations: How to Become “Recall Ready”
DESCRIPTION:The FDA recently gave food manufacturers new detailed guidance on how to proactively prepare for a recall\, and even when to voluntarily perform a recall. \nThough most food companies have recall plans in place\, the plans often sit on a shelf and don’t receive much attention until a company finds itself in a stressful situation. Join TAG’s Director of Food Safety\, Mary Hoffman\, and SafetyChain for FSMA Friday as they break down the expectations outlined in FDA’s “Recall Ready” guidance\, what challenges are often encountered when executing a product recall\, and what industry best practices are for preparing to successfully navigate a product recall. \nIt’s not a matter of “if” a recall will happen\, but “when”. \nRegister here

SUMMARY:FSVP QI Training: Don’t Get 483’d by Your FSVP
DESCRIPTION:Under the Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) rule of FSMA\, a qualified individual (QI) must develop and maintain a FSVP as well as perform certain risk-based activities to verify that a food to be imported to the U.S. was produced in a manner that meets U.S. food safety standards. This TAG delivered course will provide participants with the education and training needed to become a QI and develop and implement an FSVP to keep you safe from 483s. \nTo assist in your FSVP development\, TAG is offering a virtual FSVP QI training on August 15 – 16 delivered by Director of Food Safety\, Christopher Snabes. TAG training follows the standardized curriculum developed by the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA) and recognized by the FDA. SUMMARY:Webinar: Confusing Validation with Verification in FSMA: The Risks and Best Practices
DESCRIPTION:While managing systems designed to mitigate risk and follow food safety regulations\, there often is a lot of confusion around what needs to be validated versus verified. Though many food manufacturers use these terms interchangeably\, not adhering to each definition accurately could put food safety in jeopardy. \nTAG’s Director of Food Safety\, Ranjeet Klair\, will give real-world examples of how this confusion had cost companies lost productivity and revenue due to non-compliance\, and will provide clear definitions for validation and verification within the FSMA framework\, with steps to take for each process. \nRegister today

SUMMARY:Food Safety Tech Hazards Series: Listeria
DESCRIPTION:The CDC estimates that nearly 48 million people fall ill and 3000 people die annually as a result of foodborne illness. Listeria is a concern due to the high percentage of fatalities that occur as a result of contracting Listeriosis. Many of these cases are preventable. During this virtual event\, experts will discuss tangible best practices in Listeria detection\, mitigation\, and control. \nIn this webinar TAG’s Vice President of Regulatory and Scientific Affairs\, Dr. Ben Miller\, will present the session: Continued Complexity of Monitoring and Controlling Listeria Monocytogenes. In 2017\, the FDA released draft guidance for the control of Listeria monocytogenes in Ready-To-Eat (RTE) food. Since then\, the food industry has continued to experience outbreaks of this pathogen\, sometimes coming from new and novel sources. This presentation will discuss some of the more complex issues around L. mono monitoring and control\, including food-contact surface testing\, emerging detection technologies\, and when it might make sense to genetically sequence L. mono found in your facilities. \nRegister here

SUMMARY:Webinar: Supply Chain Controls: Ensuring Regulatory Compliance and Consumer Safety
DESCRIPTION:The ability to have adequate risk management tools from farm to fork is not only a regulatory compliance requirement\, but also a consumer expectation. Supply chain control programs provide an effective tool to guarantee food safety at the front end of the process. They are designed to allow for the identification and adequate control of risks from the supplier itself as well as those inherent to the ingredients and materials being sourced. \nJoin TAG’s Executive Senior Director\, Food Safety and Supply Chain Risk Management\, Dr. Liliana Casal-Wardle\, and SafetyChain for FSMA Friday as they discuss how the design of strong supply chain control programs protects the consumers and your brands. They will share the various tools that can be used to develop\, maintain and continue to grow these programs\, such as the control of physical\, chemical\, and biological hazards\, food fraud protection\, procurement practices\, GFSI certifications and validations\, GMP practices\, environmental control plans\, staffing and training\, and the maturity of the food safety culture. \nRegister today

SUMMARY:Webinar: The Psychology of Product Allergen Labeling
DESCRIPTION:Precautionary allergen statements may be doing your brand more harm than good. Every day\, 32 million Americans who suffer from food allergies – and their families – must stay vigilant about the foods they eat at every meal and every snack. Some may suffer from minor\, subjective reactions while others can have an anaphylactic reaction or even die.  Despite this\, because of the distrust the allergic population has of product labels\, primarily due to the proliferation of precautionary allergen labeling\, many take dangerous risks when it comes to food.  This webinar provides insight into how the food allergic community views precautionary allergen statements and how the industry can start to regain their trust by taking a risk-based approach to finished product labeling. \nJoin TAG’s Director of Food Safety\, Brent Kobielush\, Ph.D.\,  and SafetyChain for FSMA Friday on February 25\, 2022\, as they explore the risks with product allergen labeling. \nRegister today
